Committed precious leather

An exceptional marine leather,
exclusive,
committed and eco-responsible,
made in France

The precious marine leather 3.8 ALLEE FAUVE uses is one of the finest sustainable alternatives to conventional precious leathers.

Resulting from the upcycling of salmon skins initially intended to be destroyed,
this is a precious leather with exceptional qualities, a very singular grain,
making each handbag unique.

The choice of marine leather was made gradually.
Being a vegetarian with some vegan leanings, I looked for all the alternatives to animal leather,
alternatives that I wanted ecological and luxurious.

I realized that the material I dreamed of did not yet exist,
and that the vegan alternatives to leather that I found were all made of plastic materials,
either in whole or in part for plant-based alternatives
– plastic being used to make plant matter rot-proof.
In addition, these alternatives are still not very durable over time.
They therefore did not meet the environmental criteria that I had defined.

This is the reason why, after many months of research, I turned to marine leather.
Valuing a skin that would have been thrown away and then destroyed
– because there is no integrated sector that systematically uses fish skin –
– also knowing that any destruction generates pollution –
transform it into precious leather that will retain all its uniqueness,
participates in the environmental and traceability approach that I have set myself, and
my vision of a new, committed and spiritual luxury.

It is also a way of honoring, in full conscience and in full gratitude,
a fish that gave its life and
whose skin conveys a powerful energy of fluidity and uniqueness.

Committed Precious Leather

The marine leathers of our tannery are part of the precious leathers, in the same way as the alligator, the crocodile, the lizard. But unlike the latter, fish are caught or raised for their flesh, not their skin.

Their skins – initially destined for destruction – are recovered by the tannery, from local restorers. This is upcycling.

Exclusive leather

In order to guarantee the excellence of the quality of each marine leather,

a very sharp and rigorous selection of the most beautiful skins is carried out by the tannery’s local partners.

The leathers are thus made in limited quantities.

UNIQUENESS
A leather to be Yourself

Each leather is unique,
Each skin is unique.

Its shape,
Her size,
its grain,
The patterns of its counter-scales,
are peculiar to him.

The realization of an Elephant bag requires no less than 4 to 7 skins depending on the leather used.
4 to 7 skins which, after all the transformation processes they undergo, have kept all their uniqueness. This is even revealed and sublimated.

Your bag carries within it this energy of self-affirmation, this energy of singularity which does not alter whatever the circumstances, and which, on the contrary, is sublimated.

Exceptional qualities

The marine leathers used by 3.8 ALLEE FAUVE are the result of 3 years of R&D, integrating traditional tanning know-how.

Resulting from this unique transformation process,
these marine leathers are among the most resistant in the world.
They benefit from great flexibility and a unique grain.
They become ennobled over time.

The specific vegetable tanning developed by the tannery gives the leather a woody smell.

Vegetable Tanning
that respects the Environment

The unique manufacturing process uses vegetable tanning, using vegetable tannins.
This type of tanning is totally natural.

Vegetable tanning is a very old method, resulting from traditional know-how.

It makes it possible to obtain better quality, more resistant leather.

It avoids the extremely damaging environmental impact generated by mineral tanning, which uses chemicals and heavy metals, such as chromium and aluminum salts.

Vegetable tanning is more complex than mineral tanning, it requires more labor, is a much expensive and longer process: several months vs a few days.
This is the reason why vegetable tanning is practiced by only 15% of tanneries in the world.

Made in France

All the marine leathers used by 3.8 ALLEE FAUVE come from a young, very committed French tannery, which combines eco-responsibility, a constant search for excellence and traditional local know-how.

The skins are collected locally – within a radius of about twenty kilometers – from committed restorers.
