Materials
Precious & committed materials,
primarily crafted in France,
respectful of the Earth & the Living
Respect for the Earth is a founding intention.
It requires a demanding commitment, one that continually confronts the complexity of reality.
Creating differently means embracing the scarcity of viable solutions, the necessary slowness, the technical dead ends, and temporary setbacks.
Even with unwavering resolve, truly respectful alternatives remain rare,
and often difficult to implement at the level of luxury.
In the fashion and luxury industries, raw materials account for nearly 80% of a product’s environmental footprint.
Material choices are therefore never incidental: they are structural.
At 3.8 ALLÉE FAUVE, the selection of materials is the result of years of research, testing, and uncompromising standards.
Time is not a stylistic choice here; it is the direct consequence of this stance.
There is no such thing as a perfect material.
There are, however, more just materials,
chosen for their reduced impact, their durability, and the integrity of the human and artisanal chain that sustains them.
Precious marine leather, Peace Silk, yarns recycled from ocean waste, ethical jewellery, recyclable mono-fibres:
each material follows the same founding principle
never setting aesthetics against durability or respect for the living world.
This approach is evolving.
Not out of convenience, but because eco-design is a moving field, one that demands constant reassessment.
3.8 ALLÉE FAUVE continues its research with the same level of rigor,
to continually refine the justness of its choices,
without ever compromising on excellence.
Precious committed precious leather
Ultra-confidential, of very high craftsmanship, and entirely made in France, the precious marine leather of 3.8 ALLÉE FAUVE is an exceptional material.
A precious leather resulting from the upcycling of skins collected from local restaurants, precious marine leather does not require raising or killing an exotic animal solely for its skin.
The intrinsic qualities of the skin, combined with vegetable tanning, provide remarkable strength, a natural woody scent, and a reduced environmental footprint compared with mineral-tanned leather.
Demanding, rare, and technically complex, precious marine leather embodies a new path for luxury: radically contemporary, responsible.
Peaceful Silk
Peace Silk — also known as Ahimsa silk, from the Sanskrit meaning “non-violence” — is the only silk in the world produced without killing the butterfly inside its cocoon.
Unlike conventional silks, the cocoons are not boiled.
A small opening is made to allow the butterfly to complete its life cycle.
This exceptionally rare silk is produced by a collective of Indian women, for whom this craft represents a pathway to economic independence.
White silks reflect the cocoon’s natural hue.
All other colours are achieved exclusively through plant-based dyes.
A precious and rare material, inseparable from a female savoir-faire shaped by time, combining independence and respect for the living world.
Seaqual
Fabrics made from SEAQUAL® YARN contain 10% recycled marine plastic and 90% recycled post-consumer plastic sourced on land.
The recycled marine plastic is derived from plastics collected from the oceans and coastlines by fishermen and local communities.
3.8 ALLÉE FAUVE is a member of the SEAQUAL INITIATIVE, an international network bringing together fishermen, public authorities, industry and committed brands to transform marine plastic pollution into a resource.
Choosing this fibre means contributing tangibly to the cleanup of the oceans.
Ethical jewellery
The Maison’s jewellery is palladium-plated and finished with fine gold, with a 2-micron gold plating, ensuring lasting wear and longevity over generations.
The gold used combines recycled gold and ethical gold certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), guaranteeing practices that respect both people and the environment.
Our Parisian gilder has also implemented demanding eco-responsible processes, notably through the closed-loop circulation of water and solvents.
The jewellery is crafted in 100% brass, chosen because it is the alloy with the lowest greenhouse gas emissions.
With the exception of split rings for key holders and the settings for semi-precious stones, the jewellery and its gilding are carried out in Paris.
Single-fibre
To enable the effective recycling of our materials, 3.8 ALLÉE FAUVE exclusively favours mono-fibre materials, such as 100% silk.
Fibre blends, widely used across the industry, make recycling extremely complex — and often impossible.
Choosing mono-fibres means embracing circularity and responsibility, through to the very end of a product’s life.
