Carbon Neutrality
A High-End Leather Goods House Designed to Move Toward Carbon Neutrality
Carbon neutrality is a design principle.
At 3.8 ALLÉE FAUVE, every decision — materials, place, process, energy, digital —
is considered through the lens of its carbon impact, from the very beginning, at the moment the object is conceived.
The carbon footprint of a leather goods piece results from a chain of interdependent decisions.
We act at every level:
● Raw materials, which alone account for nearly 80% of the carbon footprint

● Manufacturing locations, to drastically limit the distances travelled
Discover the House’s French manufacturing approach
● Packaging, designed with restraint and intention
● Digital, often invisible, but decisive
Materials
In leather goods, materials account for the vast majority of the carbon footprint.
3.8 ALLÉE FAUVE chooses precious leathers made from skins valorised after consumption and sourced locally, rather than leathers derived from animals raised exclusively for skin production.
The Maison also favours recycled materials, limiting the use of virgin resources, as well as natural and organic fibres, selected for the sobriety of their agricultural supply chains.
The use of materials produced predominantly in France, with local sourcing, helps to reduce the distances travelled throughout the materials supply chain.
These choices reflect a design approach attentive to environmental impact from the very origin of the material.
Local Craftsmanship
3.8 ALLÉE FAUVE favours :
• materials predominantly produced in France, and
• 100% French manufacturing, carried out by ateliers of leather-craft excellence.
This choice is structural. Producing locally makes it possible to limit the distances travelled, and to embrace a more demanding and more responsible form of luxury.
Packaging
3.8 ALLÉE FAUVE has made the radical and deliberate choice of a foldable packaging.
Unlike traditional rigid boxes — shipped assembled and occupying significant volume — foldable packaging makes it possible to drastically reduce transported volume, and therefore the associated greenhouse gas emissions.
This choice reflects the Maison’s determination to act at the very source of impact, even when it means departing from established codes.
The Maison’s packaging is also designed using an innovative material, derived from compressed recycled textiles, an approach that combines protection, restraint and environmental coherence.
Digital footprint
As digital activity carries a carbon footprint, 3.8 ALLÉE FAUVE has chosen to integrate it into its thinking from the very outset.
The Maison’s website is hosted in Switzerland. The host was selected for its comprehensive environmental commitment, and because it is today the only hosting provider to be carbon neutral.
Its approach is based notably on:
• electricity sourced from 100% renewable energy,
• continuous optimisation of resources and energy efficiency,
• 200% carbon offsetting,
• active support for the protection of Nature.
Measurement and Carbon Offsetting
Carbon neutrality relies on a rigorous assessment of carbon footprint. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is the reference methodology.
The Maison has chosen to establish demanding foundations from the very outset, and to embed carbon measurement within a clear trajectory.
It is progressively structuring an analytical framework adapted to the realities of high-end leather goods.
In parallel, the Maison implements a carbon offsetting initiative.
Three trees are planted for each handbag, and one tree for each small leather goods piece. These plantings are carried out by a specialised NGO, with respect for ecosystems and biodiversity.
